My parents just bought a new car for me and I notice that my mom really love it. I look back at what she's driving at the moment and decided to let her take the new car instead. I'm find with my old car, I don't need a new one yet....I can get it on my own later.

There have been a few times that I've written them letters expressing appreciation for raising me so well and making the sacrifices they made. I'm so glad I did it before my mother passed away in 2000 -- she really did make a lot of sacrifices to raise four kids on a junior Naval officer's salary, and she also taught me to be an independent thinker. From my father I got patience, though those lessons are only just now coming to fruition here in my mid 40s. :-)

As for tangible stuff, I've always strived to give them gifts that they really want at Christmas and their birthdays.

But you should give the ten points to yourself -- that car switch was very cool!

Cupcake you are a good loving and loyal daughter. You put others ahead of yourself. The nicest thing I have ever done for my parents is that I bought them an antique china cabinet filled with fine crystal glasses and china for their 30 year wedding anniversary.

my parents bathroom in their new home was a wreak and after they got the work done to it they had no money left for other things as it cost way more than they expected. All their towels and wash clothes were so thin you could see through them so I went out and bought them all new bathroom decor(towels, wash clothes, shower curtains, rugs, shelving, all the little matching things that people put in their bathrooms) They were so happy....but why shouldn't we all help our parents out after all they devote their lives to us.
