what are sub-atomic particles? umm please explain in a common language (for example big for massive). thank you!

Subatomic means smaller than the atom.
subatomic particles include protons, neutrons, electrons and many others.

So far the smallest fundamental particles known are quarks.
These are grouped in various combinations to give us protons,neutrons and electrons.
One day we will likely discover that quarks are not the ultimate fundamental particles.
