Rifampicin, barbiturates, phenytoin, carbamazepine, broad spectrum antibiotics (eg: amoxicillin) and St. John's Wort can all limit the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Missing one or more pills can also reduce effectiveness.
The reason citric acid should not be consumed with Adderall is that Adderall contains amphetamines, the absorption and elimination of which can be drastically affected by stomach pH. Oral contraceptives, on the other hand, are synthetic hormones which do not have the same chemical reaction and would not be affected by citric acid.
Given that your girlfriend is on Adderall, she obviously should heed her doctor's advice and avoid consuming large quantities of citric acid, even if it does not interact with her oral contraceptives.

It may just be the type of Birth Control. Citric acid is in a lot of things. Things you wouldn't even thing about. I would suggest she switches pills.
I know if she is on anti biotics it will completely negate the effect of birth control pills.
I am on Orth Tri Cyclen Lo and I do not know of any thing besides antibiotics that will make them unaffective.

Yes, antibiotics can cancel out birth control pills, so be careful!! There are other things too, but you'd have to ask a pharmacist, since it depends on the pill.

yes some drugs may interact with OCs the most common being antibiotics, rifampicin and phenytoin. When taking these or any other drugs be sure they don't interact and f they do take extra precautions for 14 days

Of course. Antibiotics will as well as other things. Please read the pamphlet on her birth control pack to see what affects it.
And ALWAYS inform whoever is prescribing pills to her that she is on birth control and inquire if it will be affected.
