It depends on where you buy them and the time of year. A lot of imports come from Mexico and Central or South America; we also get them from the central valley, though the majority of California's tomato producers grow them for processing (as in sauces, ketchup, etc.).

Who knows now a days.. Could be South America, the Central Valley or even a green house in a little potting container. We grow our own for that reason.. So much better and taste better too!

Check the label, Grace... they could come from anywhere (especially when they are out of season)
