good observation. they tell u to stay as a kid because real world is tough. they want you to grow up because they can't stand you being immature.

That's a good question. My aunt once told me I was childish and immature just like my mother just because I like to laugh and have a good time. I think it's important to be able to laugh and enjoy life and I don't see how that makes you childish or immature. I always thought if she would learn to laugh she would feel so much better instead of being so serious all the time. I think it goes back to some people just not having a good sense of humor.

People tell "children" to stay a kid as long as they can because life is so hard when we grow up. They do not mean for adults to stay a kid as long as they can. It is physical growth AND mental growth. So when a adult acts like a child that is when the second statement is used.

Stay a care free kid for as long as you can. You'll have lots of responsibly as an adult Adults tell you to grow up in frustration.

hey i totally agree with you there. i guess people just think real life is too hard and being a kid means living a protected life while growing up would mean facing hardships and stuff. i think my parents kinda want a child who is a child and yet very wise.

If its parents they are trying to keep their kids
so they can treat like kids, even in their adult hood.

As you pointed out in your question they would wonder
why are being immature

For example swearing
if the children hear this from someone
then this is what is learned.

"stay a kid" - because grown-up responsibilities suck
"grow up" - they are expecting more-mature behavior than you just demonstrated - a teaching tool
Don't expect us to always make sense! You did not come with an instruction manual attached!
Best wishes

because when you're already a grown-up it's impossible to turn back time and do childish things...

and they tell us to grow up when we do anything childish because they envy our childlike ways (how they wish they can do it too) :p
