Males - I won't judge you by your answer, I just am trying to get a feel for what you would say. I know that all straight men are attracted to lesbian activity, but if you had to choose between your daughter loving a man or a woman, which would you choose? How would you feel if your daughter said she was gay? Would you prefer her straight? Thanks.

Anon - I don't have any children so these questions are not about what I should do in these situations. I'm just seeing what people would say if they had a gay child.

well if i had to choose, duh i would choose for her to love a man because that is normal. and i would want to see her grandchildren and not see her go through life being picked on and made fun of by people who are against gays. if that was the road in life she chose though, to be with women, i would not like it but i would not tell her that, i would love and support her like i always had. Yes i would prefer her straight like any straight parent hopes their children do chose the regular lifestyle of life, but i certainly would not degrate or love her any less.

I am not a man, but a parent needs to love their child, gay, straight, whatever. If a parent does anything but love their child they are making a mistake. I believe that many parents prefer their child to be heterosexual because society can make life difficult and dangerous for gay people and I think most parents want their kids to have an easy life.
It is not up to a parent to prefer their child's sexuality. Real lesbians don't care what straight men are attracted to.

If my daughter told me she was gay, I think I would like to believe I would say "That's ok, if you are attracted to girls instead of guys that's fine"
There isn't anything I can do about it, and it means that her life will be more difficult because of the difference from the majority of people.
I only hope that I am that responsibile if this time ever occurs.

I don't feel at all attracted to lesbian activity, that's disgusting. I would be disappointed with her but I guess I would have to face the fact that she wants to live her life that way. I would prefer her to be straight.

The bottom line should be whether or not you can accept your child to be their own person and to be happy.
It does NOT matter what someones sexual preferance is. What does matter is do they turn out to be an honest, caring, responsible adult.
If any of my children told me they were gay, I couldnt careless. I just want them to be themselves and to be happy.

i would want my daughter to be straight! i would be very disappointed and upset hearing my daughter saying she's a gay... remembering her as a sweet girl wearing a pretty dress, how would you feel then? as a parent, of course you want to see your daughter getting married to a nice man right and give birth to babies...

I have three children and one of them is female. I wouldn't be bothered at all if she said that she was gay. I would be pleased that she is brave enough to confront me and smart enough to get comfortable with her sexuality.
I would prefer that she be comfortable with her sexuality and enjoy her life.
