low income people tend to shop at stores wiht low prices. Not surprisingly a large percenatge of low income people simply have no manners (which isnt to say that every low incone person is like that)

Unsophisticated people generally are raised in lower class situations, towns, etc and simply don't have the resources to become more sophisticated and thus remain at a level where they don't make a lot and have to shop at lower priced places.

If someone is mentally challenged then chances are the type of job they can get is limited and most likely, lower paying, thus they can't shop at the most expensive places.

Since many people of lower classes shop at Walmart they have limited funds and don't have the means or need to maintain a checking account, or the education or knowledge to manage their money properly within the bounds of a checking account.

BUT a lot of people with higher incomes shop at Walmart to save money, because generally speaking, they have the common sense to want to save money.

And some people just like the CONVENIENCE of being able to get many goods all in one stop.

If you choose not to go there, then don't. And if you do, just ignore the people that "bother you" or that you feel are "beneath you" because you'll be doing both yourself and them a favor by leaving them alone.

Wow, are'nt we shallow and judgemental. I shop at Walmart quite frequently as do millions of others. A lot of people go to Walmart because it is affordable for them to do so, some have less money then perhaps you do. Poor does not equal mentally challenged. A lot of people have not aquired a lot of education, therefore have lower paying jobs and often don't require a bank account. They are doing the best they can with what they have and go to Walmart to get the things they need and feed their families. I go to Walmart because I like saving money and Walmart always has something interesting to buy. You really need to stop looking down your nose at others realize you really are no better then anyone else.

WalMart has low prices so ppl of limited means go there. So I guess the civil engineers, mathematicians, tycoons and movie stars don't shop there leaving WalMart to deal with the "unsophisticated" ppl. IMHO, as long as the ppl don't bother me, no big deal. What irks me about Wal-Mart is that though they have a lot of floor space, they are so conscious about huge volume of sales that they won't stock healthier items like lo salt crackers or reduced fat items because the masses want the better tasting, but unhealthy high salt and fat items.

Addendum: Sorry I couldn't afford to hire an attorney to write out my comments, but I stand by my comments. I have seen Wal-Mart drop many healthy items because those items didn't sell well. Does this mean that they never sell organic or healthy items? No and I never stated this.Furthermore, organic does not necessarily mean healthy. Organic whole milk is still high fat.

Why should I have an opinion about something like this? One in five is not like 5 in 5 or even 3 in 5. Where do all the intelligent people shop by the way?

Who drug you in the door to have to deal with all of this ?
I mean, was the mall or Abercrombie Closed that day ?

Let me let you in on a little news here -- I go to Walmart quite regularly -- have a college education AND a bank account -- am considered -- somewhere near the lower upper class -- know an awful lot of people --- AND -- in the aisles of this place -- I have run into extremely wealthy friends -- a state senator and his wife --- a university president --- several bank officials --- people who can and do shop ANYWHERE THEY WANT !!
Walmart's business is levered on what is called VOLUME sales --- meaning it's whole pricing structure is based on selling MASSES of products to MASSES of people -- and anywhere there are MASSES of people -- and -- LOWER price structures -- there are going to be more of EVERY kind of peoples !!!

If being around all this RABBLE is disconcerting to you -- I would suggest that you and your American Express stay out of there and limit yourself to the Neiman-Marcus's of the World --- that way YOU and THE REST OF US can live happily ever after !!!!

So? Some people don't have bank accounts. That doesn't make them worse or better than anyone else.

About mentally challenged people: some people seem to be in another world all to their own. It just depends on who sees them to be that way. Learning disabled people can function and have a happy life. They can go to Walmart and shop on their own! Got a problem? Go to one of your ritzy stores.

That's pretty rude, but here's my opinion.

First of all, I hate Wal-Mart because of their dirty work, ridiculously low employee wages, and sexism. Have you ever seen "The High Cost of Low Price?" It's a documentary on Wal-Mart. Pretty eye-opening.

Second of all, Wal-Mart has really low prices which is why people of lesser means can afford to shop there.

You're such a damn snob, and you are soooo wrong. I go to Walmart every weekend and I'm far from being mentally challenged. You are a total idiot, because Walmart gives people with disabilities a chance to work, unlike some people who rely on WELFARE. I think your parents are stupid for raising a stupid child.

Hey, it's just a place to shop. Everyone, regardless of income or intelligence would rather spend less on life essentials. I think you're stirring the pot (at least making a pathetic half-witted attempt to) because you're bored and posess a low self esteem.
