I have to wear black and gold if a Steelers game is broadcast in my area. It's a must. In softball, for years, same glove, same cleats, and same three pairs of socks.
I am not Catholic, but I can't help but cross myself after a near miss accident, whether it involves me or other drivers in my vision.

Yeah, I knock on wood too!
But in a more psychological sense I would say that my "superstitions" are that I can have what it takes to help people when they are having a bad day(---the truth is nobody really can!), and that I know the reasons for someone else's actions (we seldom ever really know why people do what they do)! These are common superstitous thoughts of sorts--and they almost always lead to failure or disappointment!

I highly dislike looking in a mirror in the dark or very low light, like the light from a clock. Don't know why, I just do.
I also like to have all the blinds closed at night for the windows people can see it - but that's not a superstition - I've actually had people stare in windows at me before when I was a teenager and home alone one evening. Scared the crap out of me.
Spouse is word oriented - he believes that if you talk down about yourself or a venture you're starting, you will kind of curse it - words have power deal.

Eat some food prepared for me by the house owner before I leave.
First, it is impolite not to have something before you leave, after the host has been kind enough to prepare it for you. Secondly, it's an Iban superstition (a race in Malaysia - google it up if you feel like to): if you get out of the house without eating, or at least tasting some food that was freshly prepared for you, bad luck - most likely an accident - will befall upon you.

I can't find any wood people and the rest of the superstitions I ignore. They're all bad luck anyway.

I'm sorry, but I don't have any superstitions. I don't believe in them. I do however, have fears. I am afraid of heights, knives and fire. Even so, I will not allow my fears to stop me from doing what I want or need to do, just as I believe people should not allow their superstitious beliefs to hinder them either. Life's too short to be limited by our fears and superstitions.

my family has a superstition that if a brown praying mantis is spotted on in property, then bad luck is coming. If you catch it and let it go you will avoid it, but kill it and the consequences could be dire. Its a family thing but every time I've seen one, my mom crashed my sister's car, my grandma had a stroke, and cousin was rapped so its something that's kinda winning me over right now.

I won't walk underneath a ladder!
It makes me a little apprehensive if a black cat crosses my path.
I only knock on wood as a joke. I don't take that one seriously.

What goes around comes around. I firmly believe that the vibes you create are the same that you attract. And every time im around someone that thinks life sucks things start to go downhill somehow. Positive thoughts bring positive things.
