he hasn't paid a single cent. Right now, my mom said he owes up over $80,000 for the last 18 or so years. The problem is that he moved away and the Florida child support place can't find him to make him pay. The government can find him to send him social security checks, I can find his address online by typing his name in at any people finder website, but for some reason, they cant find him. My family could really use some extra money right now. What should I do.

Tell your mom to get an attorney (contact legal aid, the department of children and family services). You can't do anything.

If you are 18 now, you could get a part time job and help your mom out.

Federal laws allow the interception of tax refunds to enforce child support orders; wage attachments, seizing property, suspending the business or occupational license of a payer who is behind on child support, or -- in some states -- revoking the payer's driver's license. Your state's D.A. may employ any one of these methods in an attempt to help you collect.

In a different state, you can use the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA) to enforce a child support order.

The Child Support Recovery Act (CSRA) of 1992 makes it a federal crime for a parent to willfully refuse to make support payments to a parent who lives in another state. However, this statute has been challenged on constitutional grounds (as being beyond the authority of Congress), and its enforcement is inconsistent. Possibly as a remedy to CSRA, Congress passed the Deadbeat Parents Punishment Act of 1998, making it a felony to willfully refuse to pay out-of-state child support.

Thats a tough one because as long as they dont know where you father is even of he does have an address but he doesnt respond there is no way they can make him pay. Im telling you because thats what happen to my friend.... the guy was not working either so the government couldnt track him with the social security either. He moved to Mexico and my friend was never able to get child support.

Also if they were to find him... it depends if he is working too!
If he is not working he can go to jail .... if your mom has asked for government help like food stamps, housing etc... then your dad will have to pay back child support to the government... and a small percent to your mom.

It really works very weird.... my friends dad pays child support for 2 kids....he pays like 200 a month, and like 200 to govenment. Total 400 because they cant take away all his check.

Good luck!!!

my girlfriend has a daughter who has no idea where the dad is. we find an address on the internet but it's his parents house in another state. i'm sorry to say but you might not find him. her daughter is 7 now and still no luck. i feel for you and your family's pain. he should pay and have justice. it hurts my heart knowing there are men who make babies and run off and never return to ever help. but don't stress they will get their day

was there ever a court order for support?

If there is then he will owe for ever and to be honest if he owed this much then any time he filed taxes it would be up for the taking.

double check if the court order was ever put into place.

get back to me as I am also in Florida, where abouts do you think he is?

regards
