They'll love this question in Philosophy...that isn't to say we don't want it here but they really LOVE these questions over there.
My answer to you is it's impossible for us to know. So we continue on and if in the course of whatever this is we develop relationships and friendships and acquire knowledge then we've not only enriched the dreamer, if that is what's going on but we've also enriched ourselves.
If we're pets in a cage, we seem to have more free will than any other pets I've come across...but that may just be part of the dream.

i became going to declare i'm hoping the guy dreaming sleeps in yet after listening to the 2d subject , i'm hoping somebody throws a bucket of water on them and wakes them up in the previous i'm in touch , lol , now i'm caught with that grotesque image in my head , yikes !

ive thought of how life might not even exist
no god-no mom-no family-no rollercoasters and we are just a dream (maybe a fish's dream,aliens,dinosaur =] lol anything)
i sometimes wish i knew hy things happened and i had absolute knowledge but at the end its better to figure out by yourself reasons why things do/will occur

I think things like this all the time, but in the long run, it's best not to think of them...you'll go crazy after a while..haha.
