Since a few years medical standards have been fallen to the depths. Hospitals want to treat you if you have Insurance, companies provide emplyees with medical insurance to protect them as they are valuable, but doctors think the insured money belongs to them.
A. Medical companies sell at gross profits - give doctors parties, travel tours apart from other trimmings et al
B. Labs, scanning ccentres pay doctors upto 40% to refer patients even if not needed (why else do doctors give discounts, its from their commissions)
C. Operations are done even if not needed
D. Wrong prescriptions given at time of discharge, so patients return and doctros can further rip off the Insurance which belongs to them!!!
People raise your voice, write in to governments, it's for our own benefit. I would even ask those who think nothing will come out of it, to email or write in to your governments, whichever country you are in. A mass appeal will have to be looked into.

In India after the privatization of insurance companies, these private insurance companies have used all sorts of methods to increase their sale/income. In doing so they have taken help of the medical professionals & services related to medical profession. The medical claim which is being imposed on all the company employees in each & every local as well multinational companies in India is just another way out for which these insurances companies must be giving good incentives to the CEO's of all these companies. All these corrupt practices are being carried out in open & in view of the government of India but no action are initiated as the Ministers & high bureaucrats of the government because they must be getting good incentives from these insurance companies as their pound of flesh. What ever you stated in your question is absolutely true & to add to this list I would like to bring that certain treatments which actually a person undergoes but may not require any hospitalization i.e. just as an outdoor patient, his or her medical claim is not allowed by these companies. In such cases the insured has to get false bills, receipts, medical reports from the hospital showing his or her admission in the hospital by paying large amount & then claim the medical insurance, this not only increases the corruption in the most noblest profession i.e. medical profession but it shows the foolish policies of these medical claims as being followed by these insurance companies. These corrupt practices being followed by these insurance companies in convenience with medical professionals & service providers are fit case of investigation & punishment. The only solution which I can see in such cases is to bring these wrong practices in the view of the Supreme Court of India in the form of Public Interest litigation. This is a fit case for PIL as it concerns the whole Indian society in general & medical profession in particular.

With the rising cost of education the medical professionals have become greedy to make a quick buck by hook or crook and very often it is the suffering patients who have to pay thru the nose for the unnecessary treatments given by docters.
The medical council of india has not taken any drastic steps to improve the ethical standerds of in the field of medicine and i think it is time for the Hon'ble supreme court to take cognizance of deteriorating morals in medical profession and frame some guidelines.
Insurence Companies, Docters, Drug Companies, Medical Representatives, Clinical Laboratories, Bureaucrats, Politicians, Regulators, are all looking to squeeze the patient and get as much money out of him as possible. I think it would be better if people use alternative medicie like ayurveda, unani, homeopathy etc instead of the corrupt system which practices alopathy medicine.

They pay so many different bills that they can negotiate prices down. Plus many people don't get sick as often as others. I pay ~$200 a month for insurance through my employer (so they are paying some too). A doctor visit for a checkup or a visit for a cold costs ~$150 where I go. So really they are still making money on that. I don't go once a month either. Other people pay more when they are higher risk too. Personally I have it for emergencies or when I get something a little more serious than a cold, like pneumonia, broken bones, or cancer. If it was just regular doctor visits, I would prefer to pay out of pocket.

Do not give a blank cheque to the doctors or hospitals - collect all invoices - verify authenticity and only then submit to the insurance to receive your claim and then pay the institution or doctor unless you have already made the payment - otherwise they would try to collect the maximum allowable - in every case depending upon their own credibility.
Insurance company have their own internal mechanisms to check against fraud. In today's computerised system one mistake is too many and the offenders can be quickly penalised or prosecuted.

My son was almost a victim of the above mentioned "Chakravyuh" (cycle). Fortunately me and my wife being scientist's did not fall prey to the falling medical standards. The only question is how long will our limited knowledge on medicine help us?
Are you sure that this scam exists only in the field of medicine. What about our jury system? What about our bureaucrats? What about our policemen? What about our education system? What about the rich and the pampered lots? The list goes on and why waste precious time and energy talking about our politicians and writing to them (government) !!!!!
Me and my wife prayed a lot and it had helped !!!

You are soon going to be discouraged by negative minded people who only want to talk and do nothing. It is a good idea if a hell a lot of people write in to different governments.
I won't be surprised if you are also attacked or discouraged by these very people in a different garb.
I am going to take this up with my colleagues tommorrow and see if we can bring it up at a forum meeting. But can it last?

I guess the writer is right, we have to make a start somewhere though many corrupt areas. What about the education field in India - it's instruction for degrees to make money, the students are all useless - if you've worked with them.

The whole medical system is in such a mess that needs to be overthrown and started from scratch. However, this is not going to happen as long as somebody makes money on it.
