I don't foresee how Martain Meridith can blame the Western World for Africans plight.
When we send ship loads of food stuffs down there and they turn up in South America being traded for guns, if this is our fault then how to correct it, maybe don't send it at all.

The loads of food, medical supplies all being taken over by warlords and used for barter. What, pray tell are we suppose to do.

If America went into Africa we'd be berated once again be all the worlds do-gooders for "attacking" another peaceful country, remember "black-hawk down" or is that already forgotten. We didn't have to let that go so quietly. I was a Ranger, I know what the capabilities were and also know what we could have done but, also know it was political.
If we wanted to we could have gone in a quietly settled the fight and took over the area but, the news groups would have had a field day over it, they would have crucified the United States whether we were right or wrong.

So, no matter what we do, someones going to find fault with us. Remember this when there's a Earthquake in the far east and we send in all the help, when there's a tsunami and were the only ones that send in aide. We're always there when someone needs us but, when someone wants to beat us, they know where to find us.

Yes. Partly.

I read this book recently: Lots of insights into African affairs today.

The Fate of Africa - Martin Meredith, Perseus Books Group 2005
A history of African independence from 1955 to 2005. The dissolution of the European colonial empires and the turbulant and violent years afterwards.

What's with you and Africa?
x)
And no.
I think EVERYONE is behind the african crisis.
If people cared about Africa they would be making donations or something.
Ofcourse me, being a hypocrite should go do something about it too.
