Head south on 57 and in a few hours you'll be in southern Illinois. The Ohio Valley is hilly, and the glaciers stopped in the Illinois Ozarks. I can recommend the Giant City Lodge, south of Carbondale, especially if you are fond of hiking. There are cabins available, as well as rooms in the lodge. The Family chicken dinner on Sunday is among the best in the area. There are also theaters in Carbondale, Marion and elsewhere. The riverboat casino in Metropolis is there if you are interested in that. And all of that is within an hour's drive of Giant City.
The first European settlers set up housekeeping in southern Illinois. We also have the Cahokia Mounds near Collinsville (over by St. Louis) if you want to go back about 6 to 8 centuries further. There are sites from the Mississippi to the Wabash. There's a rebuilt Ft. Massac in Metropolis, Ft. Defiance in Cairo, the Logan museum in Murphysboro, and the bank that turned down the city of Chicago as a bad risk for a loan in the 1830s in Shawneetown on the Ohio, and the Saline County Pioneer village in Harrisburg.
And we also have the Shawnee Wine trail and Garden of the Gods.
Besides, our weather has been lovely this past week.

I 2d Gloucester and Rockport. it quite is an incredible time to circulate to the Cape, there is no person there. Newport, Rhode Island is likewise close (slightly over an hour) while you're attracted to seeing historic mansions on the waterfront. The Blue Hills are an incredible place to force via or take a hike. i'm confident in this time of three hundred and sixty 5 days you will get very lots on mattress and breakfasts outdoors of Boston. The Berkshires are effective, too, yet it is over an hour far flung from Boston.

The only hilly parts of Illinois are in far south Illinois and in the northwest corner. The area around Madison, WI is hilly.

If you're up for a 6-hour drive, the Hocking Hills area in Ohio is beautiful.
