This myth that most Americans are for the war is now squashed. Even after all the polls from all the networks (of course Fox had the highest percentage of Americans for the war) some in this country still cant believe this fact. Well here it is. Can we all admit this or is there still some stubborn ones out there? You say you know we should be there. How the hell can you defend this war when you have no idea what the real gameplan is or was. Iraq should of been given the chance to resist the surge of true terrorists that were not even really in Iraq before we invaded, we invaded for WMDs that probably never existed. What kind of backwards as* president do we got? I mean hes either stupid or corrupt, pick one! He lands a plane onto a carrier(if he was even flying) trying to look like a rockstar and then announces victory, what a fricking scam that was. Im Independent yet Im voting for Ron Paul, no matter what party he runs under. The republicans and democrates, - Ron, can go to hell.

Im going to put a disclaimer out on all my questions from now saying, "If you know nothing about the question, dont answer" as in redwingnuts case. The only thing we need to worry about is nukes and the only reason Iran's closer to this is because Bush and family needed oil and money for his buddies that are currently rebuilding? Iraq and failed to see the real threat. Can anyone say Saudi Arabia? The future owner of our country thanks to the as*es of evil that are in charge.

How Would I Know, this member of answers is the worst kind. He calls Americans that protest a war that should have never been terrorist supporters. These are the scum we must watch out for. People that think like this are the ones we need to be sending over there to die!

I agree. 100%. Like Ron Paul says, "It was a mistake to go in, its a mistake to stay." I was definitely going Democrat early last year, until we voted them into majority and got absolutely squat for doing so. Congress has proven itself impotent. The president has had free reign ever since 9/11. The Patriot Act destroys habeas corpus, and congress does nothing. The Military Commissions Act destroys our protections against unlawful searches and seizures, and congress does nothing. The entire country speaks to wanting a different direction in this war when we voted a Democatic majority, and congress did nothing. Congress is little more than a puppet show now. We need a president to lead this country back to its purpose, and Ron Paul is the only one to do it.
Also, it appears a few of you are confusing the war in Iraq with the war on terrorism. You do realize al-Qaeda never had any significant presence in Iraq until they followed us there, right? And, contrary to popular belief, Saddam never had anything to do with al-Qaeda. Also, Bush himself finally admitted that Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11.

This is a trivial debate and a futile protest.

First, it is NOT a war. It is an occupation.

Second, the US will not leave Iraq until there is nothing left that depends upon oil or some other force comes in and kicks the US out. The last time the US had control of oil in Iraq was when they only had 1/4 control. They depended solely on the proxy government set up by the British after WWI to maintain control. Eventually, the Baath party took over and eventually Saddam nationalized the oil industry and kicked the western oil companies out. (and you thought the US despised Sadaam because he was an evil dictator). This is a whole new game now and oil is much more critical to the oil barons. If a President comes in office and completely removes all American troops from Iraq, then either the US would be very comfortable with the Iraqi proxy government and its military or that US president will be assassinated. IOW, it won't happen.

Yes, Ron Paul (the kook) can *indeed* go to hell as far as I'm concerned. Because no matter what his stance on the war, or most other things may be, at bottom he's an Anti-Choice (on the remedy of abortion) and Anti-Equal-Rights-for-Gays bigot. And NO bigot is fit to enter the White House.

As for the war -- yes, most the people are finally beginning to realize that our doltish Warmonger-in-Thief, and the "man behind the curtain," Cheney, comprise the worst mass-murdering team the world has seen since Pol Pot and his killers. Iraq is BUSH'S killing field.

Just 16 more months, and then HILLARY can end this illegal (undeclared) "war," once and for all.

To "Southern Skoller" -- In a way, you're right. The sensible anti-war folks USED to be in the minority, right after Bush LIED to the world, and conned so many people. Today, though, tens of millions of Americans are rapidly wising up. Thus, the intelligent and sensible people who oppose this illegal "war" NOW comprise a 2-to-1 **majority**.

I placed on my green social gathering sweatshirt everywhere and debate my Democrat associates on the similarities of the Obama administration with the Bush administration on distant places coverage. the protection rigidity occupation of Afghanistan and U.S. Bombings of Civilians in Pakistan purely gas the numbers starting to be to be a member of the Taliban (which replaced into no longer in touch in 9/11...that replaced into al Qaeda)

It may well be that more Americans oppose the war in Iraq than favour it. Certainly, there are many indications to that effect. However, the number of people at protests is not a good indicator.

Factions are skilled, or not, at getting people out to rallies and demonstrations. I'm not knocking anyone--just saying that the number of people at one demonstration or the other does not necessarily accurately reflect public opinion.

Sorry. No "myth" has been "quashed". Yet.

Prior to Columbus sailing around the globe, millions thought the Earth was flat... a few thought otherwise. People also used to believe en masse that the Earth was the center of the universe... a few thought otherwise.
100,000 morons who don't even understand WHY the war is being fought and that their childrens' lives depend on us ridding the world of the Islamic terrorists who would attack us over and over just means ignorance is widespread.
Not a big surprise. No shortage of stupid people out there.
Intelligent ones, on the other hand... well, hey, thanks...
you just proved a point all right...

just for the record, here are two things for you to think about:

1. the last time POLITICIANS thought they knew more about handling a war than GENERALS, it was VIETNAM. Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton need to shut up and go away.

2. your majority elected the Democrats into Congress, which has an approval rating in the SINGLE DIGITS. the 'corrupt' President has one 4 times higher. what does THAT tell you?

All of your arguments are tired and easily disproven... but thanks for the two points!

ps- it never ceases to amaze me how people are against the war and they don't even know what the war is about.
If you don't know... don't vote and don't talk. READ.

What I'm wondering is how come none of the counter-protesters were arrested? Can't people still reserve the right to demonstrate and disagree against this Administration without the fear of arrest?

Where have our civil liberties gone people?

Yes, Ron Paul, go to hell. Handbasket optional. Better watch what you say, they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, fanatical, criminal. Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're acceptable, respectable, presentable, a vegtable!
