I sent a package to a university student, but the package hasn't been received yet. It's been a week since I sent it. I checked the UPS website as well; it's been "delivered" to the university-- so why hasn't the package been received yet? Does it take time to sort out the packages?

Well, Thursday and Friday were Rosh Hashanah. I'm not sure if mail at the university gets delivered over the weekends. UPS isn't open during the weekends, I think; I wouldn't be able to contact them.

Different universities handle things differently, but often packages aren't delivered, but the student is given a message to pick up the package, and then they have to go somewhere to get it. Is it that the student has been waiting for the package and hasn't gotten word of it, or is it that the student hasn't called you to tell you that they got it? Most schools don't deliver on the weekend, but unless this is a heavily Jewish school, Rosh Hashanah shouldn't have been a problem for mail delivery.

I'm a faculty member and I find that our mail room gets lazy and only delivers packages a couple of times a week - I've had to call to get things which were sent overnight when I didn't get them, and invariably they were just sitting there.
