Can't say for sure, but this week in a near by town, a person broke into a house, and shot a 31 year old woman, and her ex-mother in law that owned the house. There were 3 children ages 9, 4, and about 4 months old. They all hid in a closet and waited until the next morning and called 911 and reported it to the police. They were showing the house and playing parts of the 911 call that the kid made to the police. What a shame. But at least the children didn't get shot.
So the closet must be a good spot.

I'm super small, so I have more options than some people. I'd rather go out a window (I live on the first story) and get away tho.
If I HAD to stay in the house, I'd hide my kids in the dryer (they're small too) and myself between a couch and a wall, or some place similar.
Under the bed and in the closet are WAY to obvious and expected!

The best strategy is to run out of the house. Of course, if this were the movies, the house would be in the middle of rural Nebraska 10 miles from the nearest neighbor and the murderer would be sitting at your kitchen table and the keys to the pickup truck would of course be on the kitchen table. If you chose the hide, of course you'd have to sneeze or fart after a few minutes.
