Didn't Einstein start to develop his ideas concerning Special Relativity while riding in an elevator? I doubt it was the Musac that was inspirational. My guess, is that it was two Y!A participants conversing. Never mind anything irrational with this! The point is, that new ideas are often the initial product of pure flights of imagination (e.g., the structure of benzene- a dream of a serpent biting its tail or how about the dream of a spider driving a tractor!).

Okay, I made the last one up, but if it leads to some sort of breakthrough, I want some credit.. :-)))))

No.

Wasn't there a character in the Wizard of Oz who yearned to think great thoughts?

These so-called Think Tanks are so bureaucratic and politically motivated, they spend all of their time deflecting criticism and justifying their existence.

It's like the internet before 1995 when it belonged to the defense department and after 1995 when it was released to public development and access.

There is always a possiblity and what's wrong with it. Who knows anybody could be tapped and asked one to join their think tank organization. It is a big honor and a prestige if you will be chosen.

Good question!
