I think most things on todays news is for shock value only. And some of the things they have as top story is just laughable. Like this week the patriots got busted for cheating and that made top story over some earthquake.

I prefer informative over gossip. I enjoy reading "Newsweek" and "Time" magazines over "People" magazine. I also love the newspapers and online news and also love seeing CNN on television. I am sort of what you would call a "News Junkie". :o)

a mix of both. sometimes gossip just makes you laugh and forget about all the calamity in the world for a couple seconds.

Depends where you get it from.
If from the "red tops" as we call them in the UK, Sun, Star, Mirror etc then most of it is gossip.
If from the quality press Times, Guardian, Independant then they stick to the news stories
