If the two of you are in a relationship, personally, I would be happy to hear that you find me intellectually stimulating, however, if she is self-conscious about being overweight, etc. she may not take it as a compliment, and may think you mean 'I find you interesting, yet unattractive" (you know how us girls are! We interpret things differently than guys) It all depends on the person, the situatiion and the context in which it was said.

But if it's not a relationship situation, and she likes you then, this may be devastating for her to hear. I'm not really sure because I don't know the situation.
But it is nice to hear a guy that is interested in psychological, rather than physical connections/attractions.

The fact that you actually felt the need to TELL her that it was a mental rather than physical connection makes me assume that this was at some point a romantic relationship or at least the hopes of being one (on either your or her end)...she's obviously going to be hurt because you indirectly told her that she lacks physical attractiveness in your eyes...to say what you said is what I like to call a "Complinsult" - you're complimenting yet offending all in one shot. So, to directly answer your question, if it were me, I would rather have a guy rave over how he felt mentally connected with me rather than physically connected...but I would also hope that I felt the same way...

Mental, because that shows it is more "real"... but after I thought about that one for a while, my womanness would make me start to question why it isnt a physical connection lol... Am I ugly? Unattractive? Bad in bed? A woman's brain can be her worst enemy, especially after the fact!
