Historically, "A penny for your thoughts" derives from the one penny cost of sending a post card (a penny post) in early America.

For most people their "two cents" is usually "how they feel". I would be happy to give them a penny for their thoughts because 'how they feel' isn't worth a cent!

it's like on yahoo answers...you think of any answer if you know, you get two points each like as saying you get two cents in a way, but not really. But that would be really cool though. ;D
