We have snakes, but not deadly ones.

There are three species of snake in England = the adder, the grass snake and the smooth snake.
Only the adder is poisonous but its venom is not very strong and fatalities are very rare though it is capable of killing a dog.
The story about St Patrick is,of course, a myth. The reason for no snakes in Ireland is that during the last Ice Age Ireland was separated from Great Britain before the ice retreated and snakes cannot live in Arctic conditions.
Great Britain was still joined to continental Europe and snakes were able to come in from there.

There are snakes in England. Unfortunately, although Saint Patrick was born in what is now called Wales, he was ultimately sent by the Pope as a Bishop to Eire and it is there where he performed his miracle of eradicating the snake population and not here in England.

Native wild snakes in England are protected by law.

What snakes do we have then in England?

you mean in the wild ? yes we have adders, although i've never seen on and Grass snakes or is that the same as an adder, if not i've never seen one of them either.

I used to have a royal python, 2 boa constrictors, a yellow rat snake they were very nice snakes, but got quite big and we moved house, there was no room for their homes so we had to donate them to southport zoo.
