the miata engine has a huge factory defect on it i currently have to switch engines and i dont want to buy the same problem again id like to see alternatives id absolutely love a turbodiesel but thats super expensive in the states, what are my other options all i really want is an efficient engine be it a 4 6 or 8 but wouldnt want a gas guzzler either with gas these days

Mazda makes a v6 for the latest miata. they may have a conversion kit to put the newer engine into an older miata.
the newer v6 will get smilar gas mileage as the older 4 cylinder
and should last for 200k miles.

Get a Jasper rebuilt engine. You cannot install anything bigger or of different manufacturer unless you take it to a custom shop and have them cut it up and create a custom car for like $30,000.

I seen them with 5.0 mustang engines and they are very inexpensive
