Did you just put me in your Top 10? I'm honored. Thanks. Horns to ya!!!
My list on my blog (if you seen it) refers to my "FAVE" drummers. They are not what I deem the best techically... but as MY FAVES!!!
Your Top 10...
Neil Peart - technically a fantastic drummer and arguably the best in the biz during his prime
Tommy Lee - technically a $hitty drummer, but I love his energy, creativity and originality & is in my Top 10 Faves
Alex Van Halen - technically very good... not a premier drummer, but solid
Lars Ulrich - technically at the start of his career, he was crap & relied on energy & aggression (which I loved). Then he tried to become accomplished and it exposed his lack of "talent" & proved he was just average
Carmine Appice - proven to be one of the best technical rock drummers of the modern era.
Niko McBrain - underrated by the common man, but in my mind he is technically a Top 10 drummer from the Rock/Metal scene.
Dave Grohl - Fahkin' fantastic drummer with sound technical ability... a talent musician all-around
Dude from Slayer? - Dave Lombardo in my opinion is the greatest drummer technically in the rock/metal scene EVER!!! Better than Peart, Moon, Bonham... yes, I said it!!! People will dispute it... but they'll be WRONG!!!
Enjoy... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQpIpy1xU74
Dude from Quiet Riot? - Frankie Banali? lol... sorry
Metal Head - good choice! lol.

Dave Grohl is good...if you like him, keep him on your list....some may beg to differ, but it's up to you to choose.
Don't forget about Max Weinberg (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Late Night with Conan O'Brien)..he's fantastic.
There are other drummers that you should listen to as well, these are two of the most copied and studied drummers..they may not be rock drummers, but they were inspirations for alot of what you hear in rock today...they are Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa.

your list includes some great drummers...and dave is a very good drummer...he gives the band just what it needs and has just the right fills for every song.
my top ten will probably be very different from your top ten, but hear me out:
Vinnie Colaiuta: an incredible drummer, with enough versatility to play Zappa, to Sting, to Megadeath, to Herbie Hancock, to Jeff Beck.
JoJo Mayer: for sure one of the best drummers out there right now, with extremely fluent chops, and lightning fast rolls.
Thomas Lang: in my opinion he is the best technically skilled drummer ever. unbelievable chops, check out this video for proof. http://youtube.com/watch?v=9N-UCxp9asE
Neil Peart: no top ten list of drummers would be complete without him.
Billy Cobham: what can i say? brought an incredible force to his playing that was amazing to hear.
Tony Williams: a sheer genius. no doubt about it.
Bill Bruford: amazing drummer, awesome licks.
Danny Carey: i think the most creative drummer out there currently, watching him play with Tool was one of the best moments of my life.
Buddy Rich: the first real virtuoso to play the drums.
Keith Moon: completely original, great to watch and a character on stage and off.
honorable mentions: johnny rabb, gene krupa, dave lambardo, steve smith, mike portnoy, steve gadd, jeff porcaro, terry bozzio, ansley dunbar, jack dejonette.
if you dont know these guys search any one of them on youtube and you will be blown away. awesome question dude!

Dave Grohl is a better musician than all of them, he's done everything
From singing, to drumming, to guitar.
I hate all of the bands he's in though
he's definitely a good drummer
