comfortable with like washing dishes nothing too rough. My mom thinks that I should be laying down, and everyone else looks at me like" Oh my God you are walking around already"?
Should I be laying down eventhough I feel ok.

OK. I say if your body is letting you know that it's healing fine and that it's ready to get back in the swing of things~~the little things~~go for it!!
I'm speaking from experience here as a mother that has gone through a minimum of 14 hours of labor TWICE only to learn that I needed c-sections both times. It sucks. The pain CAN be intense. The worst of it I thought was before leaving the hospital. Personally, I didn't take the pain meds once I got home~~just a few Advil every now and then as needed.
As for being up and doing the dishes and things of the sort, why not?! I don't know about your hospital, or the ones these other answerers have been to, but at the two that I had my kids at, they MADE ME get up and walk as soon as the meds wore off and I could stand. Walk the halls all day!! It's good to have exercise of some kind. It helps lessen the risk of clots, it increases endorphins and makes you feel better~~and lets be honest here~~how good does it feel to sit in a chair or lie in bed and wait for the baby to cry, the other kids to need something, or the phone to ring?! THAT's the time when the pain always seemed to kick me, is when I was taking it easy. About the only chores I would avoid would be the ones that pull at your abs~~~such as vaccuming. That was pretty much the ONE I was told to stay away from. And not to lift anything weighing more than my baby.
Definitely, after almost a week, you're fine to move about. It is your body, and you should know what's best for it. Plus, the more you move around, the faster the c-section will heal.
Best wishes to you!!

You just had a baby and abdominal surgery. Why on earth are you doing dishes.

You get a free pass on those chores for a while. Shame on the other adults in your house.

You can walk around, but should be taking it slow. Save the limited energy for baby tasks. The point isn't to feel "good enough" but to heal properly. Perhaps you are feeling so good because of the drugs you might still be taking?

i had my 2nd section 4 months ago. and after 4days i was walking up to my first childs school to pick him up. i made sure my partner was there with me in case something happened. if all you did all day was lie down resting it may make u more drowsy every day, it may make u feel depressed that u are not doing anything round the house, if u feel ready to do something you do it!
as long as you take regular sit down breaks with a nice soothing drink and put ur feet up! as like the others have said doing too much too soon can cause some damage to your scar..just take things you would normally do a few paces slower.
and remember...
DO NO LIFT HEAVY ITEMS !!
get a friend, family or partner to do it for you. you may feel well enuff to pick that TV up or the children. but you must wait 6 weeks b4 u do strenuous lifting.. thats what i always got told by my midwife.

good luck tho :)

Yes, you should still take it easy. Your body went through alot, even if you are feeling well your body is still healing. You need to rest and take care of your baby.

5 days after I had my c-section I was feeling very well. I was doing many things...I ended up having a mild setback. I got a very mild infection. I was lucky enough to be able to handle it from home. But, many people have to return to the hospital. That would be very bad for both you and your baby.

Keep moving around, but take it easy for at least 2 weeks, then slowly move back into your normal life. I mean very slowly. Let people take care of you! That is what they are there for.

yes, the pain meds are what are making you feel so good right now. You need to get as much rest as you can, and let your mom do the dishes, etc... Save your energy for when you have the baby, and the other 2 kids by yourseslf, and no one is there to help you. Sleep when the baby sleeps if you can. Other's are available now, so take advantage of it girl!!!

Also, you risk the possibility of undoing your incisions, both inside (Your uterus) and outside, (Your skin). Give yourself some time to heal, and enjoy the help while you have it available. You don't want to end up back in the hospital getting re-stitched. My friend's sister endend up back in the hospital after both her kids for infections. She tried to do too much too soon.

Check with your dr. I did the same thing with my first c-section and he had to give me a "stern talking-too" to keep me resting. Really, for your sake and your baby's, use this time to get rest, heal properly and prepare for the busy months ahead (which you know full well about). Double check with dr, but I'm sure at only 1 week he'll probably tell you to take it easy for a little while longer.

No you should be up and about and doing what you're doing. As long as you're not doing any heavy lifting or running round the block you will be fine and all the better for not laying in bed. Blimey, you've had 3 of them girl, you're the expert :)

Just rest more often and avoid going up and down stairs. No heavy stuff.

You heal faster the more you move around, but there is a point where you overdo it.

Yes. The best way to heal properly is to rest! Even if you're feeling fine, you need to be sure your body is doing what it should be. Follow your doctors orders and rest as much as you can! Good luck and congrats! :)

you may feel well, but you just had major surgury. Its not that hard to pull a stitch and cause major bleeding. Do what you feel like, within reason. Follow your dr's advice, they do this surgury all the time and know the real risks.
