10) Patrick Roy = best goalie ever, Brodeur aint too far behind though.

1. Bobby Orr, he revolutionized the game like no one before him.
2. Wayne Gretzky, built upon what Orr started
3. Gordie Howe, played at such a high level for a long time in an era where you had to be both physical, and skilled
4. Maurice Richard, one of the fastest skaters to have ever played the game and one of the hardest shots. One of the few players from any era who could shoot it past any goaltender
5. Mario Lemieux, didn't have the vision that Gretzky and Orr had, but had a harder shot and was better one-on-one
6. Bobby Hull, English Canada's version of Richard.
7. Jean Beliveau, the greatest Captain in NHL history, and the catalyst behind many Stanley Cup rungs. The first man who played the game with a plan, and had the ability to watch everything on the ice unfold.
8. Mike Bossy, he could slap them in, or tip them in, and he was extremely good one on one...........and he had a couple of seasons where he averaged an assist a game as well.
9. Phil Esposito, best remembered as the 'leader' of the 70's Bruins and also for a 76 goal season. He broke 60 goals 4x
10. Eric Kuehnhackl, he was good enough in 1975 to have the New York Rangers offer him $1,000,000 to play in the NHL. He was good enough in 1977 to have Sam Pollock offer him $1,000,000 to play in the NHL. He has a higher points per game average in Olympic and World Championship competition than any player not named Kharlamov, Maltsev, or Mikhailov.

Defense
1. Bobby Orr, see above
2. Doug Harvey, possibly the best all-around defenceman to ever play the game
3. Pierre Pilote, the transition guy between the Harvey world and the Orr world
4. Raymond Bourque, As a rookie, broke the rookie D scoring record (broken the next year by Larry Murphy), and the longest serving captain for defenceman
5. Paul Coffey, If he wasn't a defensive pylon for the last half of his career he could have ranked higher, but what little D ability he had...he left behind in Edmonton

Goaltenders
1. Vladislav Tretiak. This guy would have been magic in the NHL. Watching him work with Belfour in the early 90s was a treat.
2. Terry Sawchuk. In today's NHL with the big equipment, this guy is unbeatable
3. Jacques Plante. Similar to Sawchuk, except more rings.

Note: Patrick Roy is not on this list.
He ranks first in games played
He ranks first in wins
He does NOT rank in the top 10 in winning percentage
He does NOT rank in the top 10 in save percentage
He does NOT rank in the top 10 in shutouts (14th)
He does NOT rank in the top 10 in Stanley Cup rings (12th)
He NEVER backstopped his country to a Canada Cup, World Championship, or Olympic victory

I can't put a goalie in a list when the only record he has is one that comes with longevity.
