I had a c-section 4 yrs ago because I was not dialating....
did you prefer the c-section or the vaginal? Why did you have a csection before?

my sister had one 2 yrs ago and loved it. She had an emergency c-section 5 yrs ago when she had a placental abruption during premature labor (the baby was fine, and is now a know it all kindergartener!!) She was the perfect candidate for a v-bac, it had been over 3 yrs since her first son was born, her surgury was a horizontal incision, the c-section was not due to a small pelvis or failure to dialate.

If your previous c-section was becasue you did not dialaite, it may happen again of you attempt a v-bac. Were you induced? That can play a big part in having an unplanned c-section. V-bac is just as safe as a repeat c-section, so give it a try!!

Every pregnancy is different. While you didn't dialate the last time, there is no reason why you need to assume that it won't happen this time. I dialated to 10, but my son's head never descended (big head).

I have to have a repeat c-section from now on. While my risk is higher than yours (I had a vertical incision), my doc would have still been fine with that for a VBAC. However, I developed another medical problem, so hence, am no longer a candidate.

If you WANT a VBAC, you have to first select a hospital that allows VBAC and then select a doctor that practices there. Many women have reported bait-and-switch doctors who clearly never planned to let them VBAC in the first place even though they are perfectly good candidates. So, it helps to ask at that hospital that allows VBAC, what doctors commonly do it.

I was the opposite. I had a vaginal first and had problems with it that required surguries afterward to fix things. The c-section for me was the best option second time around. I know a lot of women do have vbacs now and do very well with them. Personally, I'm thankful that I can have cesarians from now on. :)

I had an emergency cesarean 9+ years ago. I got to the point of pushing, and her heartrate kept dropping during contractions which led to the surgery.

Seven years ago, I had a VBAC.

I am now expecting my third child, and planning another VBAC. I definitely prefer NOT having major abdominal surgery that leaves me with a longer recovery period, etc.
