Alexander Pichushkin, The Bitevsky Maniac or the Chessboard Killer, whatever you want to call him is one of a very special breed of killer who kills for his own pleasure and he almost succeeded in his goal of 64 (he admits 62). Unlike Chikatilo who killed under compulsion for sexual gratification he has no apparent reason. Whatever the reasons these people need to be studied and then dissected to find out if it's something in all of us or just the deranged few.
