I have a 2002 tahoe, and today when I put it in reverse, it made a weird noise and then all of the sudden it won't go in reverse. All the other gears function right but when I put it in reverse it makes a weird noise and it doesn't move. Any ideas????

You should have the dealer or local auto shop check this for you.Could be a linkage adjustment or a internal trans problem.Best of luck.

the reaction sun-shell inside the trans broke or stripped.
that's the weakest link in the 4l60e trans.
the trans has to be disassembled, and a new updated sun-shell replaced.
option 1.
if your vehicle has a lot of mileage, you might want to opt for a total rebuild of the trans.
option 2.
you can just replace this part ,if low miles.

I've replaced the sun-shell on vehicles with 70 80 thousand miles, but I also disassemble the rest of the trans,to verify no other damage. 95% of the times it's just a sun-shell replacement.
and the customer is happy, saved a lot of $$ over a total rebuild...
