I got those on my 2006 Hamer Scarab...love em...love em!

I also got the Dean Markley Alchemys on my Yamaha Acoustic...love em..love em too!!!!!

I used to use Martin strings till I swtiched to Dean Markleys...now! Great tone, durable and long-lasting for hard players like myself. They are expensive...but well worth the price for them!!! =)

No. Brand and style of strings and gauge is all (or, mostly) preference. Of course, as a beginner, you probably don't have a preference yet. 10 gauge roundwound strings are pretty standard these days. Probably a good enough starting point. D'addario, DR, Gibson, Fender... all make strings, all are fine for now. I personally HATE Ernie Ball strings, but a lot of people on this board seem to like them, so whatever - they'll work, too. Of course, it somewhat depends on the type of guitar (Harmony made a lot of different guitars) - because, while it's preference, there are certain guitars for which a certain "type" (gauge and style - not brand) of string is more appropriate for the guitar/sound it's designed to produce (of course, you're free to change that up to achieve the sound you personally want). Still, 10 gauge roundwounds are standard enough and should work reasonably fine with anything. Once you figure out the whole playing part, you can start to dabble with different string types and see what sound/feel you prefer. Death Walking Terror: Fender isn't the only guitar company that also makes strings. Gibson does both, Ernie Ball does both. Etc...

D' Adario strings are good as well. I have used Ernie Ball super slinky ones in the past. They work well. But I like using .09 guage strings the best.

i just buy the cheapest strings. I'm not rlly interested in buying more expensive strings b/c in the end of the day, they'll still be strings and they'll still get bad pretty quickly.

La Bella EL stainless. Not the cheapest, for really good reasons. You owe yourself to hear these.

I use D'Addario, GHS, DR, and Ernie Ball for my guitars. For bass guitars I use, GHS, DR, and Snarling Dogs.
