Depending on which role he's playing (masculine or effeminate), he should either hold the guy like he wold a girl, or let the other guy hold him like a girl.

Actually, the general rule of thumb if you're doing old fashioned dancing is that whoever's taller leads. In most current dancing, though, it's irrelevant because no one leads.
