My friend is going to a gay dance, and he wants to know how he should hold his partner and how they should hold him.

Depending on which role he's playing (masculine or effeminate), he should either hold the guy like he wold a girl, or let the other guy hold him like a girl.

Actually, the general rule of thumb if you're doing old fashioned dancing is that whoever's taller leads. In most current dancing, though, it's irrelevant because no one leads.

Depends on what type of dance. ballroom, swing, salsa, all have specific hand placements. In some styles there is minimal contact. Hip Hop, Cronk...

well , if it is equal (i belive in equal gay relationships) . i would say that you should hold at the hips . you mean slow dancing , right?

just make it comfortable, and gain more confidence, and make it feel like a regular couple, and they will be fine.
