When working with right triangles your hypotenuse is always opposite the 90 degree angle. If you draw out your triangle you will see that RT is opposite the right angle so that is your hypotenuse. The other two sides are referred to as the legs. So, RS and ST are the legs.

In right triangle RST, if angle S is 90 degrees, then:
RS=leg
ST=leg
RT=hypotenuse
This can be proven by drawing a triangle RST, right-angled at S.

the hypotenuse is the long side that is not touching the right angle at either end
