i was in autozone and a saw a sign that showed how to get scratch and marks off. but i was wondering if i really need it and what does it do?

Uh....if you are asking this question, you should probably have this taken care of professionally.


Primer is the paint that you apply directly to metal, because it sticks really well, and provides a good surface for the pretty-looking paint to stick to. Ideally you will not need any primer at all for this, you'd just buff the scratch down. If it doesn't go through the top layer of paint, the clear coat, you can use a polishing compound to thin the clear coat in that area until the surrounding surface is down to where the bottom of the scratch was...voila, no more scratch...but your clear coat is thinner.

If the scratch went through the clear coat, it becomes something that takes a lot of skill to make look right. You will not be able to do this yourself, most likely, even with an instruction manual.

TR-3 polish. (blue can)

Found at any good auto parts store.

It's all I use....Great stuff too......
