First I would wonder what $10,000 dollars was doing in the paper bag. Next I would think that it must be mafia money. I would probably take the risk and keep it anyway though.

I would say that it all is traced back to what is ethical and correct. Yes the old adage says the possession is 9/10th of the law but that is where the other 1/10th comes into play here. As for myself if I were placed in that position given that I still have some ethics I would need to turn in the money until the time came if nobody came to claim it then it would indeed be mine. To keep it no matter what my financial situation was at the time I found it it would be prudent for me to do the right thing and turn it in. I found myself in this situation on several occasions, once I found a wallet that did not belong to me, I did look at its contents to find the rightful owner and since I lived only three blocks from the police station I turned it into the police department so they can locate the rightful owner of the wallet. It had a considerable amount of money in it and I was not doing well financially but I needed to do the right thing so thats what I did.

This is how I would do it. I would report to the local police that I had found a sum of money. I would not say the amount. I would tell them if someone comes and reports lost money to call me and if it matches then, yes I would return the money.
Here's why. I have a relationship with Jesus Christ and he gives me the desire to be honest and free from craving money. That's a lot of money and I would strongly hope no one stepped forward to claim it. I would be tempted to keep it. but, I would feel wrong if I kept the money for myself. It would put a barrier between me and my best friend. He's so honest.
This last week I faced a smaller, but similar test. I divided up an inheritance between myself and four others. I did the math, wrote the checks and mailed them. Then I discovered I had overpaid them, so I re-wrote the checks and notified them to tear up the first check. THEN I discovered my first math was correct. I felt dumb about the mistakes and tempted to stand by the 2nd check amount. I'd be $2000.00 richer - but out of their pockets. Even though no one would have ever known I would never feel OK. I have a sensitive conscience now and I even behave this way about getting too much change at the store. It's pretty cool really; it feels great that money doesn't have the power over me. I wasn't raised this way, I shoplifted once, stole library books and small amounts of money. I've been dishonest and honest. Honest works best for me.

To be honest, I don't know. I guess it depends on where I found it:~)
If I found it at Home Depot, I would probably think someone was doing some remodeling and turn it in.
If I found it in the street, I would probably keep it.
Just being honest:~)

I would keep it. Who ever keeps money in a paper bag must have earned it dishonestly. Therefore I definitely would keep it.
Now, if I found a wallet I would try to locate the Owner and return it.

I would with great reluctance hand it over to the police. I want my children to know that I'm honest and that what I teach them is more than just words. I can't tell them to don't keep things that don't belong to them if I do it. I can't teach them not to lie if they hear me do it. I can't teach them anti-violence and than turn around and hit them. That does not mean that I wouldn't be truly tempted and even have to talk to my self several times to make myself do it but in the long run I would give it back. IF for no other reason that I want my children to know that I mean what I tell them and that I respect others as I"ve taught them to.

I'd hand it in cause it would probably be "marked" bills and if you tried to spend them you could get in a heap of trouble, or the money could be the fake US money that South Korea is producing and for sure you'd get into trouble for passing fake bills, or the money could have been stolen and I wouldn't want my fingerprints on something stolen.

I would have to turn it in. Surely someone who lost it would report it. Dishonesty always has a way of catching up to you when you least expect it. If I kept it, I would feel terribly guilty and be constantly worried that I would be found out. That's not a good way to live.

I would hand it in to the police and ask for a receipt to claim it in 90 days. I wouldn't keep it could be "dirty money".
