There are 5 distinct pair of white socks and 5 pairs of black socks in a cupboard. In the dark, how many socks do I have to pull out to ensure that I have atleast 1 correct pair of white socks.

Half the socks are black & half are white.
There are 10 pairs, or 20 socks total.
You need to remove more than half to be sure.
So that's 12 socks or 6 pair in total.

you have 10 white socks and 10 black socks. This is 2 colors.
20 x 2! = 20 x 2 x 2 = 40 or 20+2!=24 I'm not sure

it when all 5 pairs of back socks are picked out, the remaining are white. So the get a pair of white you must picking 2 white.

10 + 2 = 12

i didn't take my time doing this but i have an educated guess of 4 times good luck. or do the experiment yourself. you do want the times you take out a pair of socks to be a low number like around 3 don't you?? or it does it matter...
