Many times terrorism is caused by religion and we are not allowed to bring the religions "on the carpet".

The "fault," truly, is the process of history. The war of/against terrorism is only in the early stages. The social, religious, and political factors that produce terrorism have not developed to maturity yet, which means that the social, religious, and political factors opposing terrorism have not yet developed fully either.
An analogy is: you cannot cure a viral infection. You may be able to alleviate the symptoms avoid additional infection, but you can't eradicate it prematurely. And with some viruses, there is the possibility of dying.
We will have to go through this era of history. The main issue is, that we want to win. We don't want to live under a terrorist regime.

Well that's a big question, technology cannot end terrorism in and of itself. Domestically, we simply have not inacted even a third of the programs that our president devised and funded after 9/11. It seems it was allot of lofty talk with a war and very few steps actually taken domestically to fight terrorism. 9/11 seems more like it was a cause to go to war than it was a call to seriously fight terrorism. many major cities applied for and recieved anti-terrorism funding in the billions from these programs, and some used it to build art projects, among other things.

The fault is that you're using military force against an impossible ideology.

Until you eradicate the underpinnings of what terrorism really IS, you won't be able to defeat it with bullets or bombs.
