depends on what specific things he's commenting on...do share. If a boss is spying on you (i.e. the bathroom) then the employees should turn him in to the police. If there are cameras all over like for instance you work in a bank then the cameras must stay for safety/security, but there's no need to point out your habits. But if there are habits you do that make things look suspicious like always digging in your purse or copying things on cd's and putting those in your purse (or even it "looks like" you're putting it in your purse, or taking time to read documents that is beyond your job description, then he's merely pointing things out to you which is considered constructive criticism. You didn't say how long you've worked there so I can't tell if this is during your 3-month probationary period or not.

Interesting question because oddly enough, that's just the conditions my stepson has been working under for about the past 1 1/2 years.
His boss installed a camera over his (my stepsons) work area that, because of the cameras position, makes it impossible to see the rest of the shop--- only my stepsons main work station. After putting up with very UN-work related comments and innuendo's made by his boss, he finally told him he was happily married and happily MALE! which didn't please the bossman even a little!! and led to him making life as miserable as possible for my stepson.
To make a long story short, my stepson has sold his house and has been offered a job on the other side of the state, which he accepted. He had surgery yesterday and even though it was a planned surgery (work related) and his boss was informed that he would not be returning to work for several weeks, he decided to go on vacation starting Monday and ORDERED my stepson to be there to oversee things until he came back from vacation in two weeks.
My stepson was offered a job on the other side of the state, (by a man who use to work for this perv. boss), which he has accepted. Unbeknownst to his boss or co-workers, he has sold his house and Monday will be signing the papers on his new house in his new location. When his boss comes back from his two week vacation, he will find my stepsons two week notice on his desk, dated Sept. 17th. his telephone will be disconnected and his house will be occupied by people who have no idea where he has moved to.
I believe this is called poetic justice.

First does he do this to everyone, if not you could have ample ground to sue. But think of this if she has time to watch and comment on what you do what in the world is she doing all day. As for quiting how much do you like the job.
Oh privacy law are very different in the work place, vice your home.

No, I would try my best to stick it out for a while till i found another job, I made the mistake of quiting a job once something kinda of like that happened to me, and it took me almost 2 months to find another job......so i was broke for a while and it was really bad.....I hope everything works out for you, check the Internet for jobs maybe read the paper see whats out there first, right now is a bad time to be on the job market so it will be difficult, find something else and on the day you start your new job make sure you like it then quit your old job.....but if you do like your job now, and you felt like you deserved what he said i would apologize and accept that i was in the wrong and ask for his forgiveness....but if you didn't do anything wrong....then just find something else first then quit........hope every thing works out.

9 out of 10 people would be fired! You wouldn't have the chance to quit. luckily, the boss is usually getting away with the same stuff you are, so they aren't so quick to turn the cameras on you.

I wouldn't just quit, but I would find another job and THEN quit, because I couldn't work with such an ineffective manager. And I couldn't work for a company that would tolerate such an ineffective manager.
"You're not being paid to think, you're being paid to do what you're told! Any questions?"
"Yes, Boss, if I do a really good job of not thinking, is that how I get promoted to boss?"

YES!!
Have you flashed him yet? If you can't do right whatever you do or how much you try, find a pole, do a pole dance, or better yet, a strip tease in front of those cameras (1,000,000 bonus points if your body is less than perfect!) Take your severance pay, and walk out the door.
No job is worth a boss's permanent lack of trust. Believe me.

What is he doing watching you on camera?? If he is allowed to then, ok, but if not that is sick..
NOW .. If you are getting picked on because he doesnt like things that you do but you do your job well, then there is no reason for him to be telling you, if they are personal things, that dont affect the way you work...
If they are things that you do that DOES affect your job, than he has every right to tell you no matter if he watches all 8 hours or so that your there.. If it affects your job he does have a right.

I would seriously consider transferring. If he's wasting all his time staring at his employees on camera, he's can't be getting the other stuff done that he needs to do to keep things running, so I'd want to get off that boat before it sinks.

id start watching him very closely work out all the habits he felt ashamed about and then slowy point them out to him... failing directly telling him i would point it out to co-workers in a balanced way...
4 instance.... 'boss' was really upset that i photocopyed my bum i do have to admit don't know where i was going with that one... but it's not like he's perfect he picks his nose and wipes it on the back of the door... i should know im the one he gets to clean it...i thought people in glass houses should'nt throw stones.
