He swims up the vagina, past the cervix into the womb and up the fallopian tube where he meets a descending egg who joins with him and implants themselves together in the uterus. I believe this is right. Anybody care to correct me?

interesting question - sperm can make its way to its target as long as there is fluid. this means that fluid outside the body can lead to fluid inside the body and fertizilation can take place. In normal intercourse, sperm is deposited inside the vaginal cavity near the mouth of the uterus, it swims into the uterus and catches up to the egg somewhere in the tubes. (the exact spot of meeting I do not know but can happen anytime after the egg is released from the ovary. The egg has to be fertilized prior to entering the uterus so the hormones can cause it to attach to the uterine walls (which at this spot will become the placenta)

From the vagina through the cervix then through the uterus to the fallopian tubes where hopefully they find an ovum.
