As a mom, I MADE my child get a cell phone as soon as she started middle school. She is involved in a lot of activites and I wanted her to be able to let me know when things are canceled or running late so that I don't miss picking her up.
In this day and age a cell phone is almost as important as a book bag.
Suggest a phone that is pre paid so that you cannot run the bill up... and offer to get a part time job or baby sit or do extra chores to earn it... most cheap ones at wal mart are no more than 25 a month.
GOOD LUCK

i assume which you're desiring a large-duper, all inclusive, internet-surfing, endless texting, digicam/computing device/video participant variety of telephone. i could attempt the "i can continuously sustain a correspondence with you" card. additionally, attempt to have her get you a tracphone or something like that for the duration of the initiating. That way you may instruct which you'll be depended on with one. My son lost/had stolen six telephones so far. he's fourteen too. the concern with maximum 'large' telephones isn't the fee of the telephone, that's the fee of the plan/settlement. i purchase a Tracphone for my son.

Tell her to get you a trac phone with 30 minutes on it so you can call home for a ride when needed.
