I asked for suggestions for christmas help, NOT a HANDOUT.
the answer really blew me out of the water for a couple reasons. I may be on disablity, but I still have TAXES taken out of it. for 30 years i have been a tax payer. I work odd jobs to compensate for what other things we need. I go to school at night in hopes to learn a new trade to work again and take care of my family, during the day i either run my husband over an hour away for cemo treatments or am helping him to just get up and take care of him daily. How do people assume that I am taking away their presious tax dollars when they dont know me. If I still have the government take taxes from my dis, checks and from my cleaning jobs you have no right to judge or complain. NOW>>> does anyone know of any christmas ideas or places I can go to get christmas for a teen without it costing me an arm and leg???

I'm sorry that people are judging you when all you're really looking to do is help your daughter have a nice Christmas.

I have volunteered for many gift-giving drives, and one of the biggest problems is getting people to donate gifts for teenagers. They either forget them completely or would rather buy a cute toy for a little kid.

That being said, your daughter can write a letter to Santa through the post office. Often times, the post office will send out these letters to people who volunteer to take them. This is by no means a guarantee, but it's a start. You can also write a letter explaining your situation.

It would help to know where you live. If there are any social service agencies in your area that cater to teens, they might run programs as well. I agree that you should try to find one that allows the child to make specific requests.

Now, what you can do for your child:
Start putting away a few dollars every week. Even if it's just $2 a week, by Christmas you'll have over $20--no, not a lot, but enough to buy her a cute pair of pajamas and a mini-Xmas tree for her room. . . not to mention a card telling her she's priceless. Shop for items at the Salvation Army or other thrift shops or dollar stores. Buy her "gifts" that you would be providing her with anyway. If you all like to eat at a certain fast food restaurant, buy her a gift card for that restaurant. There are also treats that cost very little--think about spending an evening making cookies (you can buy the kind that are already ready to bake) and hot cocoa and sitting around the TV watching a XMAS special. You might also take this Christmas as an opportunity to pass something along to your child that belongs to you and that she'd like to have. And don't forget Target's dollar section!

I know it must be hard to not be able to give her everything she wants, but hopefully she will appreciate how much you love her and how much you'd like to do for her. Good luck with everything.

Your question was: Anyone know how to get Christmas help???

Okay, last year I tried, churches, salvation army, etc etc. They are all wonderful to help for xmas but most of the items they donate are for very young children. Dove is a teen and she looks forward to christmas just like any other kid. Any ideas where to turn for her christmas this year> Husband is disabled and I have been out of work with severe bipolar and other medical problems. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
thanks and God bless

The answer was: No need to bring God into it. Why don't you do what we do to provide our kids with Christmas presents, get a job. You should at least save some of your disability benefits you get each month for presents and not make that another responsibility of the hard-working tax payers.

no count number what anybody says, the media is biased. you in basic terms would desire to look in direction of ESPN to word that. The media additionally pumps those communities into you, as though to have confidence they are the only worth communities to observe. human beings purchase into this and leap on the bandwagon. The Yankees, in my very own observations have the main bandwagoners. all people knows the Yankees, whether you're no longer a baseball fan. Are they sturdy confident, they are the WS champions and that they've all those championships, etc. yet is this why the bandwagon fan, searching for an empty seat recommendations them? confident, because of the fact they seem to be a magnet for them and the media does a sturdy pastime of protecting it that way.
