you mean american people? well, americans are generally rude anyways. america's politeness and civility tapered off almost 200 years ago.
to answer your question, i think you should ignore them because they are ignorant. these people have their own insecurities and perhaps low self-esteem. i think that you shouldn't stoop to their level. their stupidity has nothing to do with you. they were stupid before they starting cracking jokes at you--and still are.

Don't take it personally, it's just the French government that many Americans don't like. It's not the fact that you're French it's just your government, and for the most part, everywhere I've been, America, England, Australia they seem to believe the other nations support everything their government does, which I know for a fact is not true.

You should ignore it, and never let em see you sweat,..as the saying goes...just don't associate with that person, and act like you never heard it..people will put you down for the darndest things and I fluff it off as rudeness and no manners. consider the source, and stop taking it personal..or they win
