About 2 weeks ago i started my 1 year old on the Enfamil Next Step formula. It seems that ever since, he has had the runs. Some diapers are a little thick and the others are runny. I have been giving him a little bit of pedialite incase of dehydration. He is teething really bad, getting his molars and a nurse told me he probably is having runny diapers because of all the saliva he's swollowing from teething. He's had a fever today, highest was 101.5. It has since broke and is down to 99. Just wondering if the formula could have something to do with the runny diapers. He's getting rashes really bad also and i put lots of medicine but sometimes it doens't help. So i guess my question is can the formula have something to do with this? Thanks in advance!!

He's on this formula because we tried regular milk and he is throwing it all up. I was told to try this one.

The nurse was correct.
The saliva babies swallow from teething causes runny diapers, and upset stomaches.
The fever is from the teething.
When changing a formula... it's a big step for his digestion system. Imagine eating the same things for a whole year, and bam one day something new!
After a week or two your baby should be fine.
If it is milk based, maybe switch to soy.
Even if the baby was using milk based before, people develop allergies in less than 24 hours.
and for the rashes... I know it sounds awful, but cloth diapers are the way to go. At least until the rashes go away.

WHEN STARTING ANYTHING NEW ALWAYS MIX 1/3 OF THE NEW FORMULA TO 2/3 OF THE OLD THIS WILL HELP YOUR SON ADAPT TO THE NEW FORMULA ,AFTER 7-10 DAYS OF THIS MIXTURE ,CHANGE IT TO 2/3 OF THE NEW TO 1/3 OF THE OLD KEEP HIM ON THIS FOR 7 - 10 DAYS THEN YOU CAN USE THE FULL STRENGTH NEW FORMULA AFTER THAT , ALL FOOD CHANGES CAN CAUSE STOMACH DISTRESS IN TODDLERS,AND NEW BORN'S,
TEETHING CAN ALSO CAUSE LOOSE BOWEL MOVEMENTS , BUT NOT TO THE EXTENT YOU HAVE DESCRIBED ,CORN STARCH USED AS A POWDER AT DIAPER CHANGES IS VERY HELPFUL IN CONTROLLING DIAPER RASHES,,IT IS BETTER THAN ANY TALC ON THE MARKET ,AND CHEAPER TOO, IT IS ALSO RECOMMEND BY DOCTORS,CORN STARCH CAN BE FOUND IN THE BAKING SUPPLIES AISLE AT YOUR GROCERY STORE

Your child is allergic to something in the new formula. Put him back on his old formula and see if everything straightens out.
Teething can cause diarrhea and fever, but the other symptoms sound like allergy to me.

Well just give him regular cows milk that you buy at the store instead if you think it is the formula. There is no need to give a 1 year old formula. How ever teething does cause temporary runs.As for the rashes just have the pediatrition do a test for allergies. If your baby is eating baby food wich I hope so by now , it could be an alllergic reaction to some food you may have fed him.

sounds to me he is having an allergic reaction to the formula. I would start him back on what he was on before for at least a week or two. Then see if the symptoms go away. just to make sure I would give the doc a call

It's possible his poop is runny because of the new formula.
But, if he's one, why is he still on formula? He can drink regular milk once he's 1.
Talk to the baby's doctor or a dietician. They can provide an in-depth, accurate answer.
