conduct a search on the reticular activation synthesis theory for dreams. This theory explains dreams from a neurological perspective and basically has located firing neurons that occurr during REM sleep, or the cycle of sleep in which dreams are thought to occur. It is proposed that these neurons are firing randomly and dreams are you brain's interpretation of these random firings. This would explain why weird things happen in your dreams because your brain is attempting to make meaning out of random patterns.
