He's not eating because he's thinking what the hell am I doing stuck in a glass box when all my life I've been cruising the wide outdoors, catching my own food instead of having some menacing giant poke slugs and grasshoppers in my face.

Garters are really cheap to buy, captive bred, and are good eaters when they're not stressed. They eat mice and sometimes feeder fish, not slugs and worms. You need to let this snake go, do your research, and then go and buy a captive born snake if you really want one. But this guy needs to go back to the wild or he'll die.

you should never, not ever, catch a wild snake, and if you do for some reason, you never keep it...in most states in most countries this is illegal...a wild animal shoved in small aquarium when it is used to having all the area to rome...it is like getting you and keeping you in a cupboard...if some giant shoved you in a cupboard n shoved some slugs and stuff infront of you instead of letting you hunt like you are used to doing...would you eat? first of all youv been kidnapped which is stressful in itself...you should not (and legally without permits that enable you to catch and keep wild snakes, which i assume you dont have considering you cant even look after it right and hav come to yahoo answers for help) you cannot keep it...let it go...let it be free n if you really want a snake, go research a species of captive bred snake that is used to food that doesnt hav to be hunted, and is used to being in an aquarium...im sure you can get enough money to do that and if you cant you shouldnt hav a reptile...sorry to be so forward about this but you are being cruel and this will end with a dead snake...it doesnt hav to end this way so let the baby go so it can live its life.

Let him go, please... wild animals do not survive in captivity. He will be very stressed and probably die. Also, wild reptiles carry a LOT of diseases and will get you and your family sick.

It's very cruel to capture wild animals- he needs to be set free. If you want a pet snake, buy one that has been born and raised in captivity, he'll be much happier.

Turn it loose. If you live where it will get cold, it needs to hibernate for the winter.
