I think that if you love a person it doesn't matter what race he is, same or different race. That's why i say and it seems people don't agree. I have dated interracially before, but i also would date someone Hispanic. Doesn't personality matter more than race?

Seriously. If you only date interracially you are not leaving yourself that open to your own race. What if some guy was perfect would you deny him just because of the color of his skin? That's crazy.

One race- HUMAN. Different cultures and heritages among us. I am not sure your question is actually true - I have never heard anyone comment on the fact that it's better to date ONLY interracially - in fact, it has been the opposite that I have heard for most of my life. It is natural for people to bond and unite with their own kind. The structure of our society was once based completely on this theory - especially in the south. Mixing of the 'races' as it was called was illegal and could cost you your life in some places. While I truly believe that we have accomplished much in our life time and our children and their children have found their way towards each other, we still have a long way to go.
Individuals have the right to date whomever they want. If the two people are in agreement - more power to them. Personality, whatever you use as a yardstick to accept the person you want to be with - is still a personal decision.
There is no "only" one way to anything. And you are right - love should be the central key issue. Period.

I just think some people get a little overzealous about tolerance since we've had such a long and oppressive history (especially dealing with race). Maybe it's because I'm from a Mid-Atlantic/Southern, mostly Christian white town, but it wasn't until recently that interracial dating was acceptable to many people, so this is kind of a new frontier (so to speak) that people are trying to explore and allow more of.
I agree with you, I don't think people should be forced to date interracially or vice versa.

I say date whoever you want and expand your options of people. Who cares what the race is of the person you like/love as long as you both are happy at the end. Personality always trumps physical features any day.

Because some people have preferences in appearance and may like the other race because it's different. Have you ever heard the term "opposites attract" well although it's usually applied to personalities/class/status quo it can also be applied to race.
And personality does matter, but maybe to some it doesn't, because a lot of people are superficial. But what's saying you cannot date a different race with a great personality?
Personally i love a little taste of chocolate, carmel or vanilla ;-)

yeh personality does matter but also what you find physically attractive. so like i dunno i guess maybe i am just attracted to girls of a certain race and if it happens not to be my own then its just a preference for certain physical traits. its not like i would say that everybody should date outside there race tho. only ppl who find another race attractive. id say date whoever you think is the best kinda person for you!!!

well, even though race is of no issue to me when it comes to dating, i believe some people date only interracially simply because its a great way to learn about different customs, styles, and try different things. i dated interracially before (she was white.) and i showed her about dancing merengue, eating pupusas, and urban legends and folklore ( she loves urban legends). she taught me a couple of things as well like mudding, etc. it keeps dating interesting. i will date anyone from any race, creed, or background. i am however extremely attracted to asian girls for some reason though......
