The last time I went to pizza hut, we waited 20 minutes for the server to take our order, 47 minutes for the pizza and another 20 or so minutes to get the ticket (AFTER I told the waiter we were finished) and the place was empty. When I went to pay for our meal. The manager commented on being one of the few fast food places that still accept checks. I looked at her in disbelief "Fast food"??? She deadpanned me and said "We cooked it, you didn't" .... which apparently was her definition of "fast food"

All these chains that deliver are called fast food because you aren't in a restaurant or diner being waited on . Many times on deliveries, they will wait until they have enough deliveries to make it worthwhile for them to send someone out. They need to pay for gas too. Pizza isn't as fast as McDonald's..but it is fresh. If you want faster pizza, I suggest you buy a frozen one at the grocery store and heat it. That takes some time too.
I'm Italian but I wish I could toss that dough up like the Italians in pizza places. What an art form!

Because if you were to chop up the ingredients, make the dough, and cook the pizza in the oven, it would take a lot longer than if you call the pizza place and wait an hour for it to show up ready to eat.

Pizza is still considered fast food because it takes less than 10 mins to prepare and cook. The rest of your "hour" is taken up by the volume of service and the transportation of the product to you. If they had the oven space it could be as fast as a burger joint.

It takes 12 minutes on average to make the Pizza so the delivery time is not included.

Pizza's only fast food if it's ready and waiting there for you to buy a slice, like at Sbarro's. Pizza delivery places are not considered to be fast food.
