No, You're turle requires UVA and UVB rays in order to maintain a healthy shell, which can't be gotten through a window. You need a lighting system. Clamp lamps are pretty cheap and the "basking" bulbs run about 8$ a piece.

No it won't be. Number one, sunlight directly into an aquarium can turn it into a hot house resulting in death to your turtle. Two, turtles require UVA/B and the glass in the window effectively filters those two wavelengths out. If you can't afford to keep the turtle properly, then find a home for it. Are you going to be able to get a large enough habitat for it when it's full grown? They get rather large as adults and need a sufficiently sized pond or tank with filters (makes it easier) to keep the water clean. You'd need a minimum of a 24 X 48 (for the smaller males) tank that is 8" deep with a basking area for them. Turtles produce a lot of waste and need clean water for good health. All of this is expensive.....

Not really. Get it into a 20 long or larger. Get a florescent hood with UVB lighting. This 30" wide tank takes a 24" bulb... http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6016+6028+6550&pcatid=6550
Make sure you have proper heating and filtration too. If you can't afford a suitable home for the animal, it is very selfish and cruel to force it to live in insufficient conditions.

No, because the turtle requires a stable temperature. Relying on natural sunlight, will be far from ''stable''. A proper habitat for an animal is NOT something you should try and be ''cost efficient'' on. You can see if Craigslist has a proper light available....

Well, if it is really sunny, then yes. If it is a cloudy day, put the light on. Oh, and don't forget to put on the heater!!!
