What actions has the EU taken that would qualify them as a superpower?

1. Spain is attacked by al queda and retreats. That's a superpower thing to do, stick your head in the sand and let someone else worry about it. The only EU nation really fighting terrorism is the UK.

2. The world has been demanding the US enter Durfur. Why doesn't the EU do it?

3. Superior technology? How so. In space exploration? No. Semiconductor technology No. Software No. Bio-tech No. Where?

4 A superpower who with 35 hour work weeks, tons of vacation time and high unemployment

Economics, military, science, medical, shall I go on?

The EU is a power? I thought the EU was a bunch of different countries. All different, all with different cultures, histories, etc.

Ask this. If the U.S economy, our sciences, our medical prowess, and our military were to disappear tomorrow, would that have any affect on the EU, as opposed to the EU dissolving tomorrow and affecting the U.S.? Sure it would affect us, but in no way, shape or form than if the U.S. collapsed tomorrow. There's your answer.

Try to educate yourself a little more. And don't be such an idiot.

The United States is according to who ever you talk too a super power. And we must be since we run all over the world and deploy and force our believes on every country we run into. Some of these little countries won't left the hello alone.
Now we were fighting Iraq 6 years before 9/11 and most of us know that. So we stirred and stirred for 6 years and look at what a mix we have stirred up. And as always after all this bombing of Iraq we will at our expense rebuild the country.
Want proof look at Germany, France, Korea, Viet Nam they all were rebuilt by us and we buy stuff from them.

The EU will not last long as a united Europe, despite of a single currency and open borders, most of its member states are doubtful of each other and protects their own selfish interests iincluding ideology, while the 50 states of the USA remains solid and strong as ever under one flag and one nation. That is why USA remains the only superpower today and for the next 50 years.

Are you out of your freaking mind? The EU the hegemon? I am laughing right out loud now. Let me see....a dying continent that can only replace their population with muslims. Then there are the same three countries trying to run everything France (with their tired old dreams of a world power....LOL), Germany, and those two trying to drag England into being one of the Big Three! Oh, um... the majority of jobs being state jobs, not one single EU nation willing to give up one ounce of sovereignty so that they can work together to build a powerful union, and the incessant complaining about the eastern block countries coming in and depressing their job market....and they ARE part of the EU. OK, and then there is Turkey panting to be admitted, ready and willing to be the gateway, faciliting the invasion once again of the Ottoman Empire into Europe....damn, I thought the Hapsburgs and Spain took care of that problem years ago...ah well....

Dumbed-down should have been hyphenated, genius.

If you believe that immigrants are the only ones who are making advances in the U.S., you are, again, an idiot.

Do the E.U. a favor, and shut up.

It took 27 countries getting together before America's power could even be close to being balanced and you're asking why we still consider ourselves a superpower?
