In Exercise 19 assume that angle A is supplementary to angle B and complementary to angle C. Determine the measure of angle A, measure of angle B, and measure of angle C.

and just put the value of x in C
C=x-50
C=70-50
C=20

I just started high school so I'm pretty sure I know this. Ok here we go.

A complement and an angle should equal 90 degrees.
A supplement and an angle should equal 180 degrees.

The math can be done in two ways.

x+(x+40)=180 This is A+B=180 degrees. Work it out:
2x+40=180
2x=140
x=70

You're pretty much done now. Just plug in 70 where all the x's are and you should have 70, 110, and 20. 70+20=90 which is A+C and 70+110=180 which is A+B.

You can also solve x+(x-50)=90 but I think it's harder because I always forget to switch the signs. You should still get 70 for x and there you have it!
