You can't, because you will never know if the person is being nice because they genuinely like you, or if they're just gathering info so they can "one up" you the next time they see you, or in their mind "win" the competition.

Well it depends on who it is and how they are competing with you. If it's all in good fun and it's fair and square then it's a form of flattery is how I see it anyway which is okay in my book. But if they are playing a cut throat game and are in it to win it by any means necessary then I wouldn't trust the person at all. Sometimes a little competition is needed to keep you on top of your game.

You have to "level the playing field" sort of speak. Create an atmosphere in which there is nothing to compete with in order to get to know the real person under all of that competition. Just think of it this way...through school and his job training he has been "programmed" to be this way...get him out of that element, and then you can get to the real person he is. ; )

Hope this helps

I disagree with everyone, my partner and I compete all the time and it keeps us both focused on the goal. Perhaps I'm confusing friendly competition with something else but you didn't specify and if someone is your friend I would assume it would be friendly.

so a methods as i understand, Steve had to have countless discs fused jointly lower back countless years in the past. He has had countless spinal surgical procedures. i will see him doing appearances on WWE courses, Pay consistent with perspectives and Public Appearances, yet he might purely attempt against if he has an opponent he has in no way wrestled and consistently had to attempt against. i understand he might choose to attempt against Hulk Hogan, yet can not have confidence him to bypass to the agree end or persist with the script. If he have been to be dropped on his head lower back like occurred to him in 1997 with the late Owen Hart, it would probable go away Steve in a wheelchair something of his existence.

That`s hard.
Well, it could
be, if it is a friend,
they want to be just like you,
so they believe that beating
you at something will make them the
greater person.
