At what age do RES's start eating fish? Can anyone give me a lifeline on at what age, what they like to eat, and when they start eating it? Thanx.
PS. Can anyone tell me what age is my Red-Eared Slider? He's about 2-3 inches long. Thanks Again!!!

A lot of people are saying that they like to eat meat like fish, BUT HE DOESN'T EAT THEM!!! Right now, we have 3 guppies in the tank, and they have lived in that tank for 3 months!!! Is something wrong with my turtle?

They prefer meat, especially when young.
Try hot dogs, raw fish (any boneless, non breaded), a feeder goldfish, luncheon meat (ham, turkey or chicken), imitation crab meat and Reptomin Turtle Sticks.
They'll go after a fish depending on how hungry they get and how active they are regardless of age.
Relax. Your turtle probably never felt hungry enough to go after the guppies just yet. Be patient. Keep trying. Don't give up. My turtle lives with 28 feeder goldfish since May of this year. They've grown from 1-2" to about 2.5" each. She still hasn't decided to eat any of them yet. They nibble her dead skin away from her legs when she sheds algea from her shell
and clean up her scraps after she's fed.
What a nice Cleaning Crew!

Your turtle is about a year and half old. They will eat the fish if they can catch them. Try putting in 6 more fish, more fish leaves a better chance of catching one. Or you can purchase baby guppies like I do.

Well i wouldn't recommend feeding a fish daily because they can be very fattening but if your feeding the turtle fish on occasions that's fine. when they are the size of your palm then that's a good time for the turtle to start eating fish

your turtle is probably about a year.they eat fish when they get much larger around 5 to 6 inches.they loved freeze dried brine shrimp or frozen, any live bugs crickets spiders mealworms etc .sliders love to hunt.also the turtle pellets you buy at any store.hope that helps.they get about 12 inches when full grown so keep that in mind.and they grow very fast.

My 2 RES didnt eat their fish right away either. It wasnt until the 2nd or 3rd batch that they were eating them all up the same day. The thing I found they like the most was trout food.

I have one and i personally just put some little fish in the same tank as him and he ate them when he was ready. i also feed him regular turtle food- pellets that get soft in water. Mine'll eat anything from tomatoes to hamburger. as to its age, couldn't tell you. young, mines about 7-8 inches and i've had it about 2 years.

my turtle ate pellets and turkey you know like healthy choice I just heated it up a little dragged it across the water so that it could exercise and experience hunting. Now both of them are 7x6 inches and I feed them pellets, turkey, krill, and feeder fish because I heard once they get older they only eat veggies hope this helped

At that size it is probably about a year or two old.
From birth, Red-ear Sliders can eat small enough fish. For a really good article on diet, try this article: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/care.htm

Yeah they can eat it at that age but i would suggest that you just stick to commercial turtle pellets they most likely have more nutrients then fishs
p.s good thing you did'nt get a snapping turtle.
